Chunky oven chips
|
|
Shop bought oven chips are very bland compared to freshly made
oven chips. The only ingredients required are some potatoes, oil and a
sprinkling of salt.
Cooking time for homemade oven chips is the same as for shop bought ones and
the homemade version is cheaper and has no packaging. There is simply no reason
to lug home frozen chips from the supermarket when you can make them yourself. |

INGREDIENTS FOR HOMEMADE OVEN CHIPS
Almost all potatoes make excellent oven chips, we used our favourite Maris Piper.

Potatoes |
1 kg /
2 lb 4 oz |
|
Vegetable oil |
4 tablespoons |
|
Salt |
To taste |
COOKING Preheat the oven to 200°C / 400°F / Gas Mark 6
Wash the potatoes
but don't peel them, then cut an average size potato into about six wedges. Wash
them well in water and dry.
Place the cut potatoes in an oven dish, sprinkle over some salt then the
oil. Move the potatoes around to ensure they are covered in oil. Place in the
preheated oven and bake for thirty minutes. Stop them sticking to the oven tray
by turning after five minutes then once more half way though. |
 |
When they are finished cooking, put them under a hot grill for a few
minutes to crisp up the surfaces for perfect homemade oven chips.
